Visual Arts

Visual arts are ingrained in the act of looking at the world beyond the surface level. The visual arts are anchored to learning how to question the world around us and to convey thoughts/critiques visually. We live in a world where we are constantly exposed to visuals, whether it be an endless stream of Instagram reels or bright, flashy YouTube videos. Thus, there is an inherent power in being able to decode symbols, recognize power embedded in images, and understand how meaning is conveyed through form, color, space, and composition. Moreover, the act of exploring art from the past is a form of education in itself, as it allows individuals to understand the social, political, and cultural factors that shaped that time period.
