BREAK POINT - Two Scenes from a SCREEN PLAY
By Celina Xiong
Media arts are ingrained in the act of creating and interpreting the digital landscape that shapes modern life. Media arts are anchored to learning how students can become authors rather than passive consumers of the content that surrounds them. We live in a world where we are constantly exposed to media, whether it be through social platforms, streaming services, or news cycles that shape public opinion. Thus, there is an inherent power in being able to decode how media is constructed and understand how editing, framing, and sound create meaning. Moreover, media arts position students as ethical creators who must grapple with questions of representation, truth, and impact - empowering them to craft narratives that can reach global audiences and shape how others see the world.
